More than three decades of high economic growth has transformed China from a low- to middle- income country. However, China is facing a new set of challenges. With rising labor costs, the previously competitive labor-intensive manufacturing sector will lose its edge. As millions of workers migrate to and work in cities, inclusive urbanization commands a high priority. This conference will collect academic papers at both the micro and macro level with the aim of providing empirical evidence concerning challenges in terms of industrial upgrading and urbanization. Papers that relate to these issues are therefore especially welcome.
