Kunming, a dynamic city

Crumbling old Kunming, Goulard SébastienThe city of Kunming has extremely changed and expanded for the last ten years. Very few old buildings have remained. A CBD has emerged in the city-centre and new suburbs have grown up.

Most of the older districts have been redeveloped.  Driving forces to this redevelopment include rural flight, increasing real estate or demand for better living standards.

Yes, Kunming has changed, and some of her old charm has disappeared for ever. But this may be the fate of most dynamic cities.
